Today, I filled up Bailey's little pool and let him play in it while our front yard was shady. Because we all know that I'm a cheapskate, I haven't invested in Little Swimmers or the like this year. I also have no intention of taking him to a public pool because that's just not my idea of fun! So when Bailey plays in our little pool, I just put his swimming trunks on him without a diaper (do you see where this is going?) When Bailey got tired of hanging out in the pool, he walked ever so slowly across the grass, because he had taken his Joey Maness hand me down Blue's Clues water shoes off and he's deathly afraid of getting a sticker in his foot, so that he could run across the hot sidewalk to go get "ma tru" from behind the house. So he pushed around his truck barefoot and diaperless for a little while. Jake got home early and was pushing his stolen lawnmower over the grass and we heard IT! The splat of 2 year old poop running down Bailey's leg and hitting the sidewalk. The look on Bailey's face was priceless! I could hardly control my laughter. I made him walk across the grass again - I wasn't picking him up! - so that I could strip off his shorts right there in the front yard and spray him off with the water hose. My next challenge was getting him to put a diaper and clean shorts on because the little streaker was perfectly content bearing his birthday suit while continuing to push his lawnmower or truck around our front yard. Now I'm thinking of capitalizing on today's poop situation and starting the whole potty training process. I'll let you know how that goes or doesn't go!
