Yes, one year ago today I gave birth to my sweet little blonde haired blue eyed boy - Mr. Mav or Mavvy or Bro Cole or MC, whatever you wanna call him. It's a day I will not soon forget - epidural gone bad - Dr talking war with my husband and saying and I quote "We just need to blow the Hell out of them," - recommending real estate to our nurse- getting to share the moment with my husband whose presence at the birth was questionable until about the week before (we won't get into his epidural experience) - finally getting to hold Maverick Cole's blonde self in my arms. We won't mention the hilarious quote from the doctor who released me from the hospital! Email me for that one.
Maverick's had quite a first year! He's been hospitalized with bronchitis - made to travel 2 days in a mini van sitting backwards - suffered humiliation at the sight of his brother refusing to wear a seat belt on an airplane - endured many moments of torture via his big brother, some of them probably near death without timely intervention - suffered from many 2nd baby syndrome issues because his mother has been too worn out to keep up with taking pictures or throwing parties. I'm sure I'll be hearing more about his 2nd baby syndrome issues in 15 years or so.
He's been a little blessing though there have been moments when his mother and father have wondered how we could possibly survive one more moment of his neediness, or how we will keep Bailey from suffocating him in the name of playing 'hide' or 'ghost.' We're wondering if we'll ever get to have a peaceful family meal at a sit down restaurant that doesn't have a slide again in our lives. We're also wondering how we can keep up with the milk drinking habits of these 2 kids who must be part camel. I may have to buy a cow and start milking it myself!
Sorry Maverick, you're not going to be having a 1st Birthday party at the Rock Hill Galleria and you'll probably always just have to play with Bailey's toys, since everything is his for some reason, and the majority of your clothes will always be hand me downs. However, your mommy and daddy love you very, very much and can't imagine spending this crazy year of our lives or the next however many until you have your free ticket to West Point without you in it! Believe it or not, Bailey loves you, too, he just has a mean way of showing it!
Happy Birthday, Mr. Mav!

Amen and again - and it's okay that there's no party at the Galleria - you have no idea how much sanitizing that required on the trip home...=) Again, Happy Birthday Mav!
Happy Birthday! 2nd child syndrome is nothing compared to 3rd child syndrome- Ella has never had her picture "made". I know, I'm a bad mommy!
Happy Birthday, Mav! We miss you and your family. Say "hello" to them for us!
Cute post! Happy birthday Mav!
I have to agree with the third child syndrome.. Wyatt sure is low down on the pecking order!
I have seen Hayden "passing on the love" to his little brother since he gets it passed from Carter! (ie- they know how to take care of themselves or figure it out QUICK! NOBODY can get Carter upset faster than Hayden!)
Maverick's birthday is certainly a day I won't forget. It's the only birth I ever attended where I wasn't the one giving birth!! It was amazing and beautiful and precious and I got to take pictures. I love you my little blue eyed angel.
Happy birthday Mav!
Happy late birthday, Maverick! It's the exact same way with Zander, though he's sort of coming into his own now (watch out, Bailey!). I'm definitely going to have to hear the doctor quote@
Maverick,
Happy B-Day Little Man. May you grow up quickly so that you may know how blessed you are to have awesome parents, family and friends. Wear a piece of cake for me. :-)
@Sundi, hope you got the doc quote...thinking of it still makes me laugh and laugh and snort and laugh...ask her about the Cranium missionary next...=)
