Family of 4!

Maverick Cole is here so we're officially a family of four! He arrived at 2:55ish on 1/11/07 weighing in at 8lbs 1 oz and is 21 1/4 inches long. He has a head full of blonde hair and is cute as a button. We have no idea who he looks like at this point, but next week he'll look totally different so maybe we'll have an idea then.
It was what seemed like a long day of labor and delivery, but it really wasn't in retrospect. We arrived at the hospital around 7:30 and checked into our room. Apparently there has been a baby boom in York County because the hospital has been slammed with births over the past 3 days. We sat tight waiting for the doctor who showed up around 9 and broke my water. Then the nurse, who was assisting a c-section, came around 9:30 and started my pitocin and asked all the important questions. Later in the morning or early afternoon, I can't remember exactly when the anesthesiologist came in - nonetheless, he came to give me my highly anticipated epidural. In all honesty, getting that put in was one of the most painful things I've ever experienced in my life. (You'll have to ask Jake about his epidural experience) The epidural wasn't effective and only gave me a numb feeling down my left leg and no pain relief at all on the right. At around 2 or so, the pain started getting very intense. By 2:30 we knew we were getting close so we called for the nurse and the doctor. Dr. Robinson showed up at about 2:45. When we asked him how long it would be he said about 5 minutes. 7 minutes later, he was close, I was holding Maverick on my chest.
He's been such a good baby. He has made little noise and just lays in your arms or content in his little mobile crib. He passed his hearing test this morning, has had his picture taken and is snoozing. It's so different from Bailey who has been high energy since the moment he poked his head into the light.
Bailey came to see meet him last night. He was a little unsure at first, but after sharing a piece of chocolate cake with me, a trip to Quiznos with daddy and uncle Josh, a bag of cheetos and chocolate shake he was a lot more willing to touch or point at Maverick. We all had orange cheeto dust on us by the end of the night and were able to take some pictures of all of us. (Notice his orange mouth and cheeto in the chewing process above).
We're all doing well and are very grateful the Lord let Jake be here to experience all of this. I know I couldn't have done it without him here.
Can't wait for you all to meet our new addition!

That's so awesome!!! Many congratulations to the 4 of you! He's so cute - can't wait to see him. We'll probably come by tonight or just wait until you're home. Jen may come today though...

Okay - he is by far the cutest - blonde-headed baby I've ever seen! Thanks, you guys, for letting us share in your lives, the way that you so willingly and freely do! This is such an amazing blessing to share in -- now, I want mine - but I'll wait to make sure he has all his fingers and toes in good working order --- will March ever get here!?! All my love!
