"all of our asians..."

Where have I been? I know you're wondering since I'm such a good blogger and update my blog pretty regularly - or maybe not. We've spent 3 1/2 days WITHOUT internet. Can you say PEEVED? If you know me at all, you know that the internet is my life! That's just a small exageration. Between email, blogs, facebook and a few other random sites, I spend a ton of time on the internet even if just in small 2 minute or so spurts. One day I should calculate the time I spend sitting in this chair. You can only imagine the misery of sitting down here for the past 3 1/2 days and getting NOTHING or getting into Gmail and seeing that there are new messages, but not having the cable signal to access the actual messages. I bet I've spent an hour on hold waiting for a Time Warner CSR to answer and help me with my issues. Thank goodness for my new Razr phone with the speakerphone feature! The best thing about waiting was listening to the woman who did the recording, who has a slight lisp, say countless times "all of our 'Asians' are assisting other customers...yadda, yadda, yadda." She was saying 'agents,' obviously, but it sounded like 'Asians' and I wanted to ask her why Time Warner didn't outsource to India like the rest of the corporations in America. (Right, Evans?)

So, what's happened since Monday when our internet suddenly disappeared? Hmmm...Not much! We had a nice little playdate with another 2 year old little boy yesterday morning. That was fun and I think next week we're going to go to see Curious George at one of the local theaters for a buck each! I'm curious (ha!ha!) to see how Bailey will be in a movie theater. I'm sure I'll have stories, but I'm also sure a big bag of popcorn and a drink with a straw will keep him occupied for the previews at least! Hopefully Jeff Joyner didn't put the trailers on the front of the movie, right mom? (Jeff Joyner was one of the employees at the movie theater that my parents' managed when I was a child. He was notorious for putting 20 minutes worth of previews on the beginning of every movie he 'built up.')

Today Bailey and I had a knock down drag out in the church parking lot while I was dropping him off for Mother's Day Out. Oh how I miss Sunbeams at FBC Rock Hill where they came and got him out of the car! No walking to the classroom drama! He didn't get dropped off on the first try, but had to come back home and spend some quality time in his room before I decided that sitting at home all day was punishing me more than him so we got back in the car and he took his little butt to his class for the remaining 4 hours of MDO! I had a nice little lunch with 2 new friends. I desperately needed some sane grown up time today! Thanks Mary and Marie!

Tonight we made our last trip to the McDonald's that we've been to a few times. We'll have to find another one with a play area to frequent. If you know anything about me, you know that I'm NOT a germophobe like some of my other mom friends! I'm not known to carry around antibacterial hand wash. I let my child eat food off the floor. I don't always wash off pacifiers that hit the ground. I know you're all running to call DSS right now on me! I'm sure I could go on, but you get my point. You know the play area has to be disgusting if I'm saying it is! It IS! I didn't really pay that much attention to it until I was trying to get Bailey to climb up into the slide. The smell of the slide about made me gag! The months of foot prints and gunk on the slide was just gross! We also had terrible service and ended up with an extra order of fries. So we've vowed NEVER to go back to that El Paso Area McDonald's.

So there you are - in a large nutshell - where I've been and what we've been doing during our 3 1/2 days without internet. We live a very exciting life!

Speaking of Asians, when Jed and I were in the Philippines, we were told that most calls such as credit cards, insurance, etc. are taken in the Phlpns. So, technically, Asians is somewhat correct.

I guess the wireless signal that comes from somewhere near you was out too. I know the frustration of not getting to check my mail or read your blog for days on end. But I'm home for a couple of days of internet bliss (no Army pun intended).
