Learning the Hard Way

Tonight, Bailey was taught a lesson, not so sure he's learned, the hard way. We went over to our neighborhood playground so that Bailey could play a little while tonight. Bailey was swinging and 2 little girls were pushing him for a little while. I had Maverick in my sling carrier so he was attached to me. Bailey decided he was finished swinging so I took him out of the swing. Instead of walking around the swings, Bailey walked right under the swing next to us that was being used by the biggest girl on the playground. I knew what was about to happen and there was nothing I could do. I tried to grab the girl's swing as she was coming backward, but to no avail. Then the world stood still...She and Bailey collided as she swung backwards, throwing Bailey to the ground. He cried and I ran over to pick him up. I'm not very good in these situations because I tend to get emotional! I thought I'd just load him up and we'd go home, but he wanted to play some more and ran over to the slides. He laid his head on the end of one of them for a few minutes trying to get it all back together. The girl that hit him came over and apologized. I tried to tell her that he just didn't know any better and it wasn't her fault, but I started getting choked up and couldn't finish my sentence! I felt bad for her because she felt like it was her fault. You live, You learn...You're only 2 once, right? Bailey was back to normal and played chase with another little boy for a little while before I told him we needed to come home to take a bath. He ran right over to his car and we were off...I hope this bath thing continues to be good motivation.

In other news, I walked into Maverick's room to rescue him from his wake up blues and found him like this...
What am I going to do with this child? He's already pulling himself up! He wants to be able to keep up with his brother so badly. We were hoping he would be our wallflower child, but I don't believe that's going to be the case. I'm in BIG trouble!!!

I am so glad Bailey is ok. I was almost afraid to continue reading. You better let that mattress down or that little blond headed boy will be in the floor. He looks very proud of himself in that picture. He is so precious just like his brother. Sure miss all of you!!!!

Poor Mrs. Jen --- I know how you feel and what you mean - maybe that was a lesson learned for Bay. And I cannot believe Mav - although OT is already rolling over and over like a champ - he does go so fast sometimes that he scares himself, though...which makes me giggle and snort. Hope this week goes quickly and without trips for medical attention!

I have seen so many kids do that same thing over the years. I guess it just takes a while to figure out the "what goes up must come down" theory. Give them both a hug for Grammy & Pop.
