Wildlife

One of the fun things about living in El Paso is the variety of wildlife that we see around our house. There are huge jackrabbits that hop through our yard almost daily. I have a bird feeder so I see lots of very large dove. If I had a pellet gun, I could probably shoot some and eat them for dinner! That would save me lots of money! That would also be illegal, I'm sure!

The boys and I were getting loaded in our wagon to go to the park one day a week or so ago and a bunny came hopping onto our back porch. It hid behind Bailey's play house for a long time. It must've been scared. It was a cute little thing and I thought about trapping him and having a new pet, but since I've never owned a bunny in my life I decided that might not be a good idea.

Then, a couple of nights ago we were out playing with our neighbors and I noticed this sitting on our laundry line. From a distance I thought it was just a bird waiting for us to leave so it could get something to eat from the bird feeder. As I looked more closely at it, I discovered it was a little owl. I keep watching for it to come back, but I haven't seen it lately.

We used to have a pet rabbit- it hated Les! Everytime he would pick it up, it would pee on him! Needless to say, we did not have the rabbit very long.

Do you think the rabbit was hiding from the owl? Just a thought.
