Over the River and Through the Desert

We returned this evening from our Christmas Trek to Waco to see my family! It's an adventure travelling with this crew - that includes daddy driver and mommy non-driver (I can't find my driver's license! I'll be telling you what it's like to take the driver's test in TX in a few days if I haven't located my SC license soon!) I think I get more tired and bored riding than the boys do. I can't read or look at anything other than the road because I get car sick. One day I'll remember to take some Bonine or something before we get started.

All in all we had a good Christmas. Bailey's still not real sure about the unwrapping of gifts. He does like the end result, though. This year he has the fortune of thinking EVERY gift that is unwrapped is HIS. I think he's played with more of Maverick's gifts than he has his own! The hits so far, of those gifts that have made it out of boxes, are Paw Paw Bailey's Handmade cars, GG and Paw Wade's new Mack truck that Bailey found in the closet a few weeks before Christmas and carried around still in the box until I finally wrapped it and let him reopen it tonight, and of course, his Thomas bed and horsey flashlight from Grammy and Pop!

Jake and I have finally entered modern times and received our own Ipods for Christmas. Now I just have to figure out how to work it and find the patience to sit down and download all my music off of Itunes. We did install Itunes a couple of weeks ago so we could get a couple of songs for Jake to use in a Sunday School lesson and it converted all of our current music files so they're compatible with our Ipods or something like that.

My sister and I ventured out at 6:45 this morning to the Red Dot Sale at Belk and came home with a few bargains. We were disappointed because they wouldn't give us the extra 20% off with the coupon from their Ad. When we were in Waco in May, the lady scanned her coupon and gave me an additional 20% off of my already reduced Red Dot items, but they must've changed their policy because now the tiny tiny print says that the additional savings is not good on Red Dot items...BOO!!!! I managed to find a couple of good things and if I had more time, I probably would've walked out with a new pair of brown boots. We had to be back home so that we could load up and hit the road back to El Paso by 8:30.

Maverick has had a rough few days. He has a good little cough and is in the process of cutting his first 3, yes 3 all at once, teeth! One on the top and 2 on the bottom. He's been pretty miserable, but Paw Paw just carried him around for a couple of days and that seemed to be alright with Mr. Mav! Plus, Paw Paw let him have cookies and cinnamon rolls and eggs and cake.

It's good to be home, but we all have to go back to work tomorrow. I have a budget to cut! Fun, Fun!!!

Pictures to come, I promise!

Glad you're home even if you have lots to do! Thanks for the cell pics - I figured you were bored out of your mind to send pictures by phone and now, I know why - bless it! I hope you do find your SC driver's license...Why haven't you gotten a TX one yet? Shouldn't you have since you reside there...hmmm...just giving you a hard time! GA only gave me 30 days to switch. Anywho, I hope Mr. Mav breaks ground soon and you don't lose your cotton-pickin' mind in the mean time!!! And I'm sure Paw Paw hated carrying him around, just like Bailey hated carrying that Mack around...=) On to the new year!

Glad you finally updated your blog. I was anxious to hear how the boys liked Christmas. I guess Bailey will get the hang of actually opening gifts some day. Hope we get to see you very soon. Love you all.

So glad you had a great Christmas and vacation! I've been sicker than a dog, with company over, so I've been woefully out-of-touch! Our whole family has been sick with something really gross...we just can't seem to stay well. Can't wait to catch up soon!
