Rainy Days and Mondays...

It's not Monday, but it's raining outside so all day I've been singing "Rainy days and Mondays always get me down."

We began our rainy Saturday morning with egg sandwiches prepared with my One Egg Pan. Jake laughed at me when I brought this home from Kmart a few weeks ago, but it is currently the most used pan in our kitchen. It makes the perfect little fried egg to put on a piece of toast. You have to spray the pan before you put it over the open flame or else you'll create a huge burst of flames! I know from experience. Bailey thought it was cool.
I try to be a creative mommy and come up with things for Bailey to do so today I decided we would do something very simple - "Cupcake Crayons." I bought a book called the "Everything Toddler Activity Book" over a year ago and have tried a few little activities out of it.

For this little activity you simply unwrap crayons, break them in pieces and then put the pieces in paper muffin cups and bake at 300 degrees until the crayons are melting and bonding together. This is a great way to use the broken crayon pieces that collect in the bottom of your crayon container. The first pan I did, I let cook too long and they crayons were pure liquid by the time I took them out of the oven.

This is the pan above when I took it out of the oven. You'll notice I didn't let the pieces melt all the way so they're more chunky looking. The colors when we use these will be much more distinct.

After they're cooled, you pop them out of the muffin cups and they look like these. They could be mistaken for multi colored reeses cups, but they're not! We'll be using these for a while since we made so many of them. So that's what we did on this rainy day in West Texas. What do you do on a rainy day?

You didn't mention that your Mommy bought you the little frying pan because Bailey and Maverick were getting new toys and you just had to have a toy, too!! It really is a cute little pan. Glad it's been so useful.
