We're Back

We left Wednesday of last week to go to Waco for Thanksgiving. I'm not sure I'll ever get used to spending 10-12 hours in the car with small children! Bailey always does really well because he's content to watch a dvd, but Maverick is not so content. I should give him a little credit because out of the 22 hours or so we spent in the car, he only had 3 bad fits of rage. Those 3 were BAD, though.

We stopped Wednesday night in Midland, about 4 1/2 hours from El Paso, and spent the night because we didn't get to leave until LT got off work around 4. You would've thought Bailey and Maverick had never been in a room with a bed in it! They went absolutely crazy in the hotel room. I'm glad there weren't many people staying there that night because we surely would've gotten kicked out. Thursday morning Maverick woke up and went on a mission to name everything in the room he could say. I bet we heard the words dark, light, bed, door, snoopy, Bailey, mommy, daddy, and blankie 100 times each in a 30 minute span. He was a non stop chatter box the entire time we were getting ready. Bailey slept through most of it, thank the Lord!

We made it to Waco just in time to eat our delicious Thanksgiving lunch which is never complete without a piece of chocolate pecan pie!

Overall, we had a great trip. The boys were much better behaved than I anticipated. We only had one major breakdown over putting on shoes. The rest of the time they played pretty well together. We took their scooters and some of our take along trains and that kept them entertained most of the time. We even managed to eat at a sit down mexican restaurant for lunch on Saturday without any major breakdowns or trips to the bathroom. I guess I just don't give my little boys enough credit!

I'll post some pictures and video later.

Glad you're back and that the trip went well. I was wondering where you'd gone to! Traveling does get easier the older they get - I promise! But, I agree that traveling with small children is not really something you can get used to! Sara was the one who would have those fits of rage when she was younger - it was so stressful! Anyway, I look forward to seeing those pictures and videos!

I had wondered if you went to see your dad, but Chris was SURE that you wouldn't drive that far for Thanksgiving. I love it when he's wrong - I'm super glad you made it and all live to tell about it. Can't wait to see pics!

Yeah, I'm right there with you. My children always behave far better in public than I give them credit for. I wish someone had told me beforehand how difficult marriage & parenting would be. Oh wait! I probably wouldn't have done either! LOL.
