Saturday we got a box of goodies from Chris and Jen. Jake's birthday was April 25th and my birthday is Thursday, May 24th, so they covered all their bases with this box. Bailey and Maverick even got some little gifts, too. We opened it on our way over to a little birthday party for a 2 year old and I'm glad we did. I needed a good laugh as I had been on the verge of tears for various reasons all weekend. Here's the card they sent to Jake. I about fell out of the van laughing!
Have I mentioned that the boys and I are flying to Waco on Wednesday? Bailey got a new dvd player Saturday for the trip. Our other dvd player, which is #3, has a battery issue and only works if it is plugged in. So it's fine in the car when it can be plugged into the power outlet, but it's not going to work on the plane. I guess we'll keep the new one as the one we use when we can't plug it in. This is the first one we've had to purchase with our own money. Grammy footed the bill for the first 2 and the 3rd was a replacement for the 2nd one that had about the same issue the one we have now has. Thank goodness for a nice manager at Walmart in Columbus, GA for hooking us up with that replacement!
Jake made his final decision over the weekend about which brigade he'll go to after he finishes the class he's in. He'll be part of the 6th Brigade, which is a training brigade here at Fort Bliss. That'll keep us here for about 3 years so we're happy about that. I think people assume that when you move here that you hate it. It's almost inevitable that I get asked what I think of El Paso every time I tell someone how long I've been here. I like El Paso, the city. The hardest thing about being here is missing my social life in Fort Mill. It took me 2 years to develop the relationships that I had there, so I know it'll take time here, too. I also miss Robin Frame, my hair stylist! I haven't had my haircut since I've been here because I just don't know where to go.
