I need my music team!

For the past 2 years, I've been in charge of the music rotation for the VBS at FBC Fort Mill. When you're leading the music team or even just a part of the team, you get to spend some time with a man named Jeff Slaughter. Jeff is the guy who writes all the VBS music for Lifeway. He's also the guy who does the VBS music motions demonstrations. To watch these demonstrations is almost comical because he gets so into what he's doing! Every year he seems to become more animated. So tonight, I was watching the demonstration for the Game Day Central Theme Song that I have to teach to a group of kids in the morning and I thought about the 'good old days.' I thought about all the nights we got together or even attempted to get together in the big room at the end of the hall upstairs to go over our moves; Richard Hilton and Jan Maness demonstrating their rap star abilities; the crew sporting our toboggans or caps or tukes or whatever you want to call them as we did that rap song for Arctic Edge, where adventure meets courage (whisper it with me); how about John Jarrett making fun of me night after night for the way I made the kids say "Deuteronomy 5:13" or whatever the verse was. Jennifer Wilson, if you read this, I hope you're enjoying the torch that was passed onto you! I honestly thought I was retiring and taking a year off, but they needed a music leader in El Paso - Imagine It! So Richard, Cindy, Amanda, Jennifer, Teresa, Jan, Susan, and whoever I'm forgetting, I'll be chanting "Run Run Run the Race, Keep Keep Keep the Pace, Run the Race, Keep the Pace, Keep your eyes on Jesus" in YOUR honor this year! I miss you guys and hope you have a good time next week doing whatever you're doing in the BIG game! I have another few weeks before the BIG game so every time I practice or listen to these songs, know you're on my mind!

Hey Jen! I left a message for Josh and had to say "hi". I also had to thank you for giving me a laugh during a chaotic week. During celebration this year I'm really going to enjoy watching Jan & Richard and thinking about them doing rap moves! We miss you but you handed the baton to a great gal! She really seems to enjoy leading the music. Take care.
Sending much love from Fort Mill!

LOL!!! So much for taking time off for sure. Once people figure out your capabilities...have fun using them, but I know that's what we're called to do, and it does not surprise me one bit that new folks already know your heart for kids! I love you and miss you. Talk to you soon - headed to Hotlanta!

Now I will have that Artic Edge song in my head all day!!! I can honestly say music will not be the same without you- who's going to force me on stage to rap!! Those kids don't know how lucky they are.

You have a lucky group of kids that will receive your talent and fun spirit!!!
We like the songs this year too. Josh likes to sing and dance with the Theme song and ABC Strategy--he likes the big "yeah" at the end. He asks to watch game day often. :-) Lizzie and Ben are doing the moves too. Tim said he is going to try to join the music team this year, as long as someone else will run sound for him. He's practiced the moves, but I haven't seen him in action yet. fun fun...
love, cindy
