Messages to Josh

Just wanted to give you all an opportunity to say hi to Josh, Jake's brother who is currently deployed to Afghanistan with his SC National Guard unit. He talked to Jake yesterday morning for a few minutes and said that he and other members of his platoon read my blog and get some joy from watching my crazy videos of the boys. So feel free to leave comments in the comments section of this post especially for Josh! My blog allows anonymous commenters so even if you don't have a google account or whatever, you can still leave a comment!

We love you and miss you and thank you for giving your life to protect the freedoms we enjoy in America!

Well, look at this! Little Josh is all grown up now! (Actually, you never were all that little.) Man, how time flies! Just yesterday you were running around Fort Mill and now you are doing a man's job! Amazing. I want you to know that many people are very proud of your discipline and maturity. Your service on behalf of our safety and, more importantly, the many broken and oppressed people overseas is greatly appreciated. (Certainly, many feel the same of Jake, too...I am sure you do as well). The best encouragement I can give you today, Josh, is this...

REACH THE LOST! REACH THE LOST! REACH THE LOST!

Though you are fighting for a wonderful cause: to defend the helpless,to seek justice, to reprove the ruthless, to defend the orphan, and to plead for the widow (Isaiah 1:17). Remember there is a greater goal: the salvation of all men (Titus 2:11). In Christ, you have been given everything pertaining to life and godliness (2 Peter 1:3). You must use it for the sake of the soul's of men and the glory of God!

When I think of you and Jake I am reminded of 2 Timothy 2:3-10 which reads:

2 Tim 2:3-10
Suffer hardship with me, as a good soldier of Christ Jesus. No soldier in active service entangles himself in the affairs of everyday life, so that he may please the one who enlisted him as a soldier. Also if anyone competes as an athlete, he does not win the prize unless he competes according to the rules. The hard-working farmer ought to be the first to receive his share of the crops. Consider what I say, for the Lord will give you understanding in everything. Remember Jesus Christ, risen from the dead, descendant of David, according to my gospel, for which I suffer hardship even to imprisonment as a criminal; but the word of God is not imprisoned.
For this reason I endure all things for the sake of those who are chosen, so that they also may obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus and with it eternal glory.

I am praying for you to be a "good soldier," not of the US, but of Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world!

Until All Have Heard-

Amen to that Rush!! Josh, even though it's tough on me being away from my family for 5 days a week during my job change, I can't imagine being away like you (although you don't have little chaps or a wife to miss...) :)

Hi Josh, I am Jenifer's grandmama from WV and just learned that you are in Afghanistan. I remember meeting you in SC a couple of times. We here at our church are so supportive of those young men that are willing to leave their homes and families to go willingly into foreign country's to protect us, and defend us from our enemies. I can't tell you how proud we are of you and your 'buddies'. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your sacrifices you are making for us. We pray for you every day and thank you again. I love your brother Jake and it goes without saying how proud I am of my grand daughter Jennifer. Aren't those two nephews of yours, grandson's of mine, lovable little boys? Keep up the good work, you're making us all proud. Love and prayers.

Hi Josh,

You don't know me but Jen was youth director at Harmony Baptist Church in Elgin, SC when my son was youth age. I know what a heart for the Lord that Jen has.

I probably saw you at Jen and Jake's wedding. I so much enjoy reading Jen's blogs.

I want to say thanks to you for the time you have sacrificed away from your family to be in Afghanistan.

I am sure that no one can really appreciate all that it takes for you to be there. God bless you. Sherry Stockman

Hi Josh,

I don't know what to say that's not already been said...so I asked my son Nathan, who is now 6, what would you like to say to Josh, a soldier in Afghanistan. He said, "Thank you for fighting for my freedom and be healthy and come back from combat!" I couldn't have said it better myself! We are proud of you and your buddies! Thank you for your sacrifice and your courage! Praying God's protection & strength for you all!

Hey Josh,
You are the man, doing a man's job. Our prayers are with you and know God is there in the midst. "I know the Lord is always with me. I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me." Psalm 16:8. We've got all three of our children off at Student Life Camp in Ridgecrest this week. Do you remember those days? Evans and I almost don't know what to do with ourselves, although we've made our presence known at Starbucks. We would have been at camp too had it not been for his job situation. He just couldn't take the time off.

Thank you for what you are doing. You guys rock!!!!!

Hey Guy, You know we love you and we are so proud of you. As we have talked before, you're a soldier for our Lord and that means more than anything in this world. We count the days until you are safe at home, but until that day, you are close in our hearts and prayers. Be tough Josh, we love you...T and H

Hey Josh, Just wanted to add my thanks for the job you and your buddies are doing. Kirby and I got to sleep in your bed a couple of weeks ago!! But we'd have gladly slept on the floor if it would have brought you home. We pray for you every day. I know Jen married your brother, but we love you, too. Be strong and be safe. Becky & Kirby

Hi Josh, I sure do miss our talks about how great those Clemson Tigers are!!!! We sure do miss you; and since you have been away, we seem to have more leftovers from our company lunches. Wonder why?

I thought about you at the Charlotte Race over Memorial Day weekend. Lots of military guys and activities - parachuting in and blowing up small buildings along the front stretch. It was so loud, I thought Jordan was jumping up and down on top of the motorhome. Very patriotic.

God Bless, Penny

PS - Jonathan is getting married July 7 and Joey got married last month.

Hi, Josh,

We've been keeping up with you and Jake, knowing that both of you are now serving our country and protecting our freedoms. My nephew, Phil Glenn, is a Captain in the Marines and is currently serving his third tour in Iraq. We pray for all three of you specifically and by name every day during our morning devotions. Know that we love you guys and are extremely proud of you. Keep your faith strong and active, Josh, and God will be with you every step of the way. He's awesome---and you are, too.

Josh I can't begin to put into words how proud I am of you. Having you in harms way has been the hardest thing I have ever had to cope with but I put you in the Lords hands and I know He will be with you because he is a soverign God. I know you have been trained to be a soldier of the United States Army but before that you have been trained to be a Christian soldier and that is your most important mission. I pray that God will use you in a great and mighty way. If you can win one soul to Christ it will have been worth everything you have gone through, because that should be all our mission. I pray daily for your protection and I claim Psalms 91 for you as well. I hope you will read it as well and claim it for yourself. I pray for your battle buddies as well. I can't begin to tell you how much I LOVE you and miss you. Please keep your eyes on Jesus.

I love you!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Josh,
I am just like all the other bloggers thanking God for a Godly man that is willing to serve and help us keep our freedoms and to share the Good News during bad times.

It is hard to imagine you all grown up and so far away from Fort Mill, but God had a plan all alone the way. We do remember you in our prayers that you will be safe, that God will use you in a mighty way with your Army buddies. You plant the seed, God will do the rest.

Your Mom and Dad keeps us all posted. We hug and pray with them often.

In the way of sprts, Dale Earnhardt, Jr joined the Hendrick's team! The biggies for Henrick team are: Casey Mears, Jimmie Johnson Jeff Gordon and Dale Earnhardt, Jr. UNC baseball team is a seed 3 in the College World Series. (You know I had to give you that bit of info from Mr. Bill).

Take care of yourself for you have a lot of peoplewho love you and are waiting for you to return.

Love, Hugs and Prayers,

Bill & Nancy B.

We miss you and wish you the here instead of there, but know you are doing what needs to be done. Your cousins Matt and Nick ask about you often and can't wait to hear your war stories. Take care of yourself and never let your guard down! Love Eddy and Melody

Josh, I have not heard Auburn mentioned since you left Stafast. All the warehouse wants to talk about is Jeff Gordon and you know how I feel about that name. Guess I will have to figure out how to track your team. Several of the Panthers did an autograph signing last week here in Fort Mill. Got Jordan's picture with Jake Delhomme (although Jordan is not fond of him right now) and 4 other players, but I forgot their names. All of these guys were very friendly.

Take care and God bless.

Josh, you may have already heard this. Saw it in The State paper. Well you know who is going to win.

Posted on Thu, Jun. 28,
Clemson to play against Auburn in 2010 and 2011 Clemson and Auburn have announced a two-game football series that will be played during the 2010 and 2011 seasons. The first contest will be played at Auburn and the second game will be played at Clemson. The Auburn series replaces the two-game set that had been scheduled with the University of Pittsburgh during the same seasons.

This will be the first time the two teams have met since the January 2, 1998 Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl in Atlanta. Auburn won that contest 21-17 in the Georgia Dome thanks to a fourth-quarter comeback. Terry Bowden, the brother of Clemson Head Coach Tommy Bowden, was the head coach at Auburn for that game.

The two schools have not met in the regular season since a 35-13 Auburn victory at Auburn in 1971. Overall, Auburn has a 32-11-2 advantage in the series that dates to the 1899 season. Clemson defeated Auburn in 1948 and 1950 during unbeaten Clemson seasons under Frank Howard.

“The two-game series with Auburn will certainly be exciting for our fans and our players, “ said Clemson coach Tommy Bowden. “I have coached at Auburn (1991-96), so I know how intense their fans are when it comes to their football program. There really are a lot of similarities in the two schools. I am sure it will be a series that will be nationally televised and bring considerable exposure to both programs.

“Many times when future non-conference games are announced, they are long off on the calendar. But, the freshmen on our team this year will play in that 2010 game at Auburn when they are seniors, and if they red-shirt they will play in both games.”

Clemson has now scheduled home-and-home non-conference series with five SEC schools over the next nine years. In addition to Clemson’s annual contests with South Carolina, Clemson will meet Auburn in 2010 and 2011, Vanderbilt in 2012 and 2013, Georgia in 2013 and 2014 and Mississippi in 2015 and 2016.

Take care and God bless,
Penny

Josh, hope you are doing well. I know you probably have already heard - Clemson 24 Florida State 18. Of course, it was a great first half and the second half was a nail biter. Remember my grandson Jordan! Even though it was a school night, we let him go to the game. I was watching the game on TV and there Jordan was - hanging off the railing in his purple hair. He had a great time - got home at 4:30 a.m. and he still made it to school on time.

Take care and God bless

Penny
