Retirement Planning

While we were in SC, the LT and I got to spend 2 1/2 days in Charleston, SC. Today, Cinco de Mayo 2008, we're thinking that Charleston or a suburb thereof will be a good place for us to retire. Grant it, we have at least 18 more years before retirement is even possible! Nothing like a little planning ahead or dreaming. We realized last night that alot of our friends here in El Paso have never been able to experience the beauty and wonder that is Charleston, SC so these pictures are for their enjoyment and maybe will influence them to take a trip east!

Here we are in all our glory on our dinner cruise. This was probably one of the most fun things we've done together. The only thing we wish we had done differently was pay for a private table for 2. We're cheap so that didn't seem like that big of a deal until we were escorted to a table we shared with 2 locals on their 1st Wedding Anniversary. We cruised all around the Charleston Peninsula and to Fort Sumter. My hair doesn't normally have a rooster tail. It was very windy on the water.

These are a few pictures of some of the beautiful, old homes in Charleston. I wish they would ban street parking so that the cars wouldn't taint the beauty of these houses. The plush green trees were almost breathtaking compared to the brown we have here in El Paso. Although, while we were gone, our butterfly bushes and a few little flowers in our front yard bloomed. I think this is a picture of the USS Yorktown from the Charleston Battery.

One of our big purchases while in Charleston was a copy of the picture "The Storm" painted by Jim Booth. I need to take it and get it framed this week so that I can pay homage to the city of Charleston daily!

Jen, my dad retired out of Charleston. We lived there from when I was about 1 1/2 to 5. I remember going to the ocean to go crabbing; tying the chicken necks on strings & throwing them out, anchoring them w/sticks in the sand. I hate fire ants! We used to have an ant hill at the base of my slide on my swing set.
Believe it or not, haven't been back there since we left. Some day I hope to get back. Glad you had a good trip.

Every time we go to Myrtle Beach we plan to spend a day in Charleston, but somehow never make it. Maybe this time.
