Aloha Friday #2

I'm back with my 2nd official installment of Aloha Friday!

Today's question is about money. It seems we're always talking about money at our house as I'm sure many of you do, too. We're facing a situation where we will have a little bit extra each month due to my husband's 'vacation.' We've been talking about what we'll do with it since we knew it was going to be coming. I'm not sure we've ever made a definite decision.

Here's the question:
If you knew for a specific period of time you would be receiving an extra $500 a month, what would you do with it?

We're going to use most of our extra to pay down our car loans and then save the rest.

I would honestly - use some of it to pay for some "me" time including some babysitting and housekeeping, too. I sooooo need to call you!!! Big love.

I would save it for a while to cushion my "rainy day" fund and then I would put the extra towards my car payment or my mortgage.

BANK IT! I would just save it for a bit...if we spent it, the very next day the water heater would explode...or the car would brake down.

Take a little and go have a nice dinner or something fun for the family... but I would totally save it.

I really need to pay down debt and start some sort of savings account. I'd put $250 in savings and $250 toward debt.

$100-charity
$100-savings
$100-Girl's birthdays. (they r both in Feb)
$100-clothing items for husband
$100-IKEA (my money)

*Last week, you mentioned an interest in non.toxic products, I use them (have now for 16 years) if you have any questions, I would be glad to share. :D

I would save it. Not fun but I can't think of anything right now that I really wanted to buy but didn't have the money. I often DO think of things so it wouldn't be saved for long!

I would love to have a bit extra to give away! Honestly! I have a few friends right now who could use a bit of financial help and it would thrill my heart to meet some of that need!

It would all go towards reducing the debt. :)

Being the cheap person that I am & not having any bills to pay (thank goodness), I would save it. I'm really glad I saved as much as I did while I was working, since I don't have any income any more as a result of quitting my job so I could focus on school.

I think I would save it for something big that I wanted.

Put it away, as I know a rainy day is coming.

All really good comments. But let me refer you to a money guru. joesangl.com He is Dave Ramsey light- has a lot of good things to say & free internet tools; including a mini-budget form for just such things. :)
I'd probably pay off debt or split it up like others suggested putting part towards debt & part towards savings (and a bit for the pregnant momma to relax while hubby is gone.)
While I immensely appreciate him serving our country- I also appreciate you as well- & being preggers & having 2 toddlers to deal with(energetic boys no less) I think you need to remember to take care of yourself as well! :)
